THIS SUNDAY: Can’t Stop The Serenity returns!
This Sunday, PGC3 member organization PDX Browncoats is bringing back its annual Can’t Stop The Serenity event for its 7th Year in action! This year, PDX Browncoats will be screening Joss Whedon’s beloved classic, Serenity, as well as Firefly episode, ‘Out of Gas,’ with a fantastic bash at the Bagdad Theater in Portland. PDX Browncoats has a proud history of supporting non-profits that promote equality for men and women, raising over $400,000 of support within the past four years, and in their continuing tradition of geeky, non-profit do-gooding, all proceeds from this year’s Can’t Stop The Serenity will go to support some fine organizations!

Can’t Stop the Serenity (CSTS) is a great way to both indulge your geeky side and do some good. Beginning in 2006, fans have organized worldwide screenings of Joss Whedon’s Serenity to raise funds and awareness for Equality Now and their work for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women around the world. This year, Portland’s event will also support Raphael House with a portion of the proceeds raised.
Doors will open for pre-sale ticket holders at 12:30 pm on Sunday June 24th. Pre-sale ticket holders can get their seats, order food, peruse raffle items, and enjoy the melodies of the geeky duo, The Doubleclicks. At 1:30 pm doors will open for day of ticket buyers. The show kicks off at 2:00 pm with the Firefly episode ‘Out of Gas’ before the screening of Serenity. Make sure to get your raffle tickets and break out your best brown coat for our raffle and costume contest between the episode and the movie.
